Ashley Gardens held their Summer Fete on 21st August 2010. There was a Grand Opening by the Mayor of Maidstone and his wife. Stalls included tombola, coconut shy, face painting, bric a brac, bouncy castle, penalty shoot out, hook a duck, lucky dip, cake stall, BBQ, plant stall and much much more. We also had cream teas on sale in one of our hobby rooms alongside some more competitions such as guess the weight of the cake (green and pink cake) and sealed bids for cat and wool cake. Funds raised in aid of the Alzheimer’s Society and Ashley Gardens residents fund.
  Gardeners Club
Ashley Gardens is introducing a gardening club for our residents. We have purchased some wooden planters and some of our residents have started to hand paint them to personalise them with their arts and crafts session. We have had some raised flower beds made, and these will also be part of the gardening club for our less able residents who enjoy planning and planting.
  Chocolate Fountain Activity
Residents recently enjoyed our regular chocolate fountain activity at Ashley Gardens. They had a choice of fresh strawberries and marshmallows on this occasion, and it was as always a great success.
  Visit from Local Farm
Ashley Gardens enjoyed a visit from a local farm - the residents were able to hold the chicks and stroke some of the other animals, and were also given the opportunity to bottle feed one of the goats and one of the lambs their milk. It was a fantastic experience for all and for those residents who used to work in the farming industry, it provided a great opportunity for reminiscence.
