
Handford House is a spacious, bright, modern purpose built nursing home which is registered with the Care Quality Commission for people over 50 years of age with nursing dementia care support needs or with physical frailty. The home also provides support for younger people aged 18 and over with physical disabilities.
The home is ideally located a short distance from Ipswich town centre, accessible by major road routes and public transport. It is close to a wide range of local facilities including swimming baths, Ipswich Town football grounds, cinema, library, theatre and major high street and local shops.

Nursing Care for frail older people & those with dementiaThe home has a team of experienced and qualified registered nurses and care support workers, selected for their skills and knowledge to provide a high standard of personal, nursing and social care needs support. Our aim is to provide high quality holistic care which meets the needs of each person's individual requirements in the way that they wish. Alongside quality clinical and nursing care we support a wide range of social care activities to promote continued interests, hobbies and outside activities in the local community enabling service users to live a full and enjoyable life.
AccommodationThe home has been designed to provide comfortable, safe and accessible accommodation, is modern and beautifully furnished to a high standard.
Each bedroom has a suite of furniture including an electric profiling bed, chairs, wardrobe and in some rooms a small sofa. All bedrooms have en-suite facilities, some including en-suite showers, as well as separate specialist bathing facilities. The bedrooms have TV points and there is broad- band internet access across the whole home. Individuals will be supported to personalize their rooms with their own possessions, such as favourite pictures, ornaments and small items of furniture.
On each floor there are a variety of comfortable and well appointed lounges, (some with televisions), and designated dining areas, which will be dressed and maintained to provide a pleasant and enjoyable eating experience.
FacilitiesFour dedicated units to support each service user group.
A multi sensory room, with a range of specialist equipment available for use by all service users in the home. Some sensory equipment is also fully mobile to enable access to service users with restricted mobility and to support people with individual therapies in their own rooms should they require this.
A large well equipped hairdressing salon with adjustable sink to support individual physical needs.
Wheelchair accessible gardens with pleasant well planted garden, 2 large patio areas, raised flower beds and seating to enjoy anytime and with family and friends.
Varied and freshly prepared meals served either in our dining areas in each unit or in individual service user's rooms should they wish.
A large dedicated activities room equipped to support a full range of social care and activities provided in accordance with individual preferences and wishes, supported by all members of the team as well as a dedicated activities co-ordinator. Other activities will also be provided on a one to one basis or in other areas of the home depending on individual's needs and choices.

Suffolk Show
Handford House
Four service users from Handford House attended the annual Suffolk Show run by the Suffolk Agricultural Association. Great fun was had seeing the animals, looking at stalls and watching the displays. The free samples in the Food Hall were very popular.

Beach Garden
Handford House
The garden mound at the rear of Handford House is being transformed into a Beach scene by staff, residents and volunteers. A shed has been painted up like a beach hut and lots of seaside items are being collected to enhance the garden and make it a sensory area for all to enjoy.
